Silver Lion Farms Goes Beyond Security with Hanwha Vision at its True Harmony Facility

True Harmony, a wholesale cannabis cultivation facility, is deploying its new Hanwha Vision surveillance technology as a triple threat: enhancing facility-wide security, boosting agricultural productivity, and meeting its challenging regulatory compliance requirements.

The new Hanwha Vision camera network and the Wisenet WAVE Video Management System (VMS) are critical components of True Harmony’s state-of-the-art operations, which are based on a unique Dutch-engineered design that streamlines the cultivation process from potting to harvesting. More than 100 cameras, including AI-powered and fisheye models, provide 360-degree coverage with no blind spots.

“One of the main requirements for Nevada’s Cannabis Compliance Board (CCB) is making sure there are no blind spots,” said Bridger Morgan, Head of Operations for True Harmony. “We have the fisheyes our dry rooms, breakdown rooms, packaging testing, and in our final storage vault, giving us coverage over everything and removing all of our blind spots.”

The 250,000-square-foot facility, a branch of Silver Lion Farms, sits at an elevation of more than 6,000 feet and covers 1,200 acres of land in Ely, Nevada, “about 60 miles either way from any type of civilization,” according to Dionta Moody. The remote location offers plenty of space but limited Internet connectivity.

“Anytime we don’t have a connection, the CCB cannot look at our cameras,” Moody said. “That’s something we can get fined on, and we have to report it immediately. Hanwha Vision has been great in making sure that we stay connected and we don’t have those issues.”

The new Hanwha Vision surveillance system is a significant part of True Harmony’s ambitious expansion and growth roadmap. The company plans to expand from its single Nevada location to multiple states in the eastern United States as it transitions from a wholesale to a business-to-consumer (B2C) model by 2026 and also increases its strain variety from 12 to more than 50.

True Harmony’s use of advanced AI camera technology offers significant operational benefits beyond security, particularly in monitoring crop health and optimizing growing conditions. The farm has trialed an AI-powered plant health monitoring solution called Fermata, software that integrates directly with the Hanwha Vision cameras to capture high-resolution images plants twice daily and analyze them for early signs of disease, pests, and nutrient issues.

“The Fermata system is great in helping us maintain our plants, detecting anything that may have gone wrong that could stop growth,” said Moody, highlighting the effectiveness of the new AI cameras in identifying even the most minuscule pest damage.

“Honestly, I didn’t think the AI would be able to spot better the human eye. I was wrong. It is incredible how well they are able to identify any type of pest pressure,” Morgan said, recalling one instance when the AI cameras identified damage on a leaf, which the farm’s Integrated Pest Management (IPM) team had missed. However, the cameras’ ability to zoom while maintaining incredible resolution clearly captured the millimeter-sized damage.

Moody highlighted the user-friendliness of the Hanwha Vision Wave platform. “It is easy to get into and learn,” he said. “I would say it’s one of the easiest camera systems I’ve used over my 20-year career.”

The WAVE system enables 24/7 remote monitoring capabilities to significantly streamline security management. “When someone comes our main gate, our team member pushes a button, it comes directly to my phone, the camera pops up and I’m able to see who it is and have a conversation before I let them into the facility.”
