Casa Batlló is one of architect Antoni Gaudí's masterpieces, and a global emblem of Catalan Modernism Architecture. Located on Passeig de Gràcia, in Barcelona, this building stands out for its spectacular façade of organic forms, inspired by nature and marine life. It doesn´t have straight lines, and its design evokes the legend of Saint George (Sant Jordi), the patron saint of Catalonia. The undulating roof represents the scales of a dragon, the columns simulate bones, and the balconies resemble theatrical masks or skulls. Casa Batlló was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2005.
In 2018, after several renovations to the building, Casa Batlló decided to implement a new CCTV system, to monitor all visitor´s activity on the various floors and interior spaces which were opened to the public. For this purpose, more than 150 Hanwha Vision remote-head cameras were installed discreetly, minimizing their impact on the environment and existing decoration. These cameras are recorded and managed by using Hanwha Vision 64-channel NVRs and Wisenet Viewer.
Following this initial installation, two more expansions have been implemented, to cover the façade, visitor access control to the building, the patio, the terrace, and the new immersive area, which was opened in 2021. Different camera models have been used, depending on specific needs of each area: X-Series cameras in 2, 5, and 6MP, including bullets, domes, and 360° fisheyes, as well as Q-Series cameras in 4MP dome format. Therefore, it has also been necessary to expand the recording system with new 64-channel NVRs, to manage a total of approximately 250 cameras. Casa Batlló is now testing BLAZE VMS for a better system´s management and operation in order to start working with it soon.
