Hanwha Vision is aware of a known firmware issue affecting the Wavelynx APEX reader line, used within the Hanwha NOP Series. Below we have outlined the steps needed to resolve this issue.
The Issue
Wavelynx has identified that, when an APEX reader has been powered and online continuously for 50 days, it stops reading all High Frequency (13.56MHz) credentials. This includes NFC wallet credentials and LEAF credentials, including Hanwha cards and fobs. BLE mobile credentials and Low Frequency (125khz) prox credentials and are not affected.
The Resolution
Wavelynx has released a firmware update that resolves this issue. The update is applied using a firmware token configured into the reader through the Wavelynx Configure App.
Please note: this update cannot currently be pushed remotely from the controller. It must be applied directly at the reader, using the Configure App. We recommend proactively updating any deployed APEX readers to ensure they don't approach or exceed 50 days of continuous power and connectivity, particularly at sites relying on high-frequency credentials, including mobile and wallet credentials.
Step-by-Step Instructions
Detailed instructions for applying the firmware token are available in our public knowledge base:
