Over the past several years, the district\u2019s security needs have grown dramatically, driving the need for a new surveillance platform that was not only secure and intuitive, but also scalable to grow with the district.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:100px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed aligncenter is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Modernizing Carroll County School District&#039;s Security | Customer Stories\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/E4TgpSHv1VI?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:100px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The district worked with Everon, its long-time system integration partner, to replace its aging, surveillance platform with a unified <span class=\"hwFont\">Hanwha Vision<\/span> solution powered by IP cameras and the WAVE Video Management System (VMS). An initial deployment of 40 cameras has expanded into a comprehensive surveillance system now approaching 400 devices, a mix of multi-sensor and fisheye cameras, complemented by the WAVE VMS.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The result is a modern, secure, and highly user-friendly system that has transformed how the district monitors its campus, supports school resource officers (SROs), and investigates incidents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe needed a system that could be used by a myriad of different users in the district, and would guarantee growth for the next 10 years,\u201d said Zachary Morris-Dean, director of technology at Carroll County Schools. \u201cWe had simply outgrown the system we had.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The district also realized it needed a flexible system that would maximize the school\u2019s technology investment. The use of specialized cameras, such as dual-sensor cameras in &#171;hallway mode&#187; and 4K multi-sensors, allow for wider coverage of large areas like hallways and gymnasiums.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe ability to turn those dual cameras into hallway mode to cover an entire hallway, that&#8217;s been great,\u201d said Morris-Dean. \u201cWe also have a 4K multi-sensor camera in our middle school gym and that has allowed us to monitor the entire area of the gym.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He described a key feature of the cameras, motion analytics, as a &#171;game changer&#187; for the ability to save time by highlighting only the video segments that show activity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe areas are highlighted where there is motion and that cuts down on the amount of time that we&#8217;re wasting looking at blank video,\u201d Morris-Dean said.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/hanwhavisionamerica.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/photo-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-108439\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<div style=\"height:48px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">WAVE for Centralized Remote Access<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Carroll County chose the <span class=\"hwFont\">Hanwha Vision<\/span> Wave VMS for centralized control, remote mobile access, and advanced features.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe WAVE VMS is phenomenal,\u201d said William Shipley, Solutions Integration Representative, Everon Solutions. \u201cIt gives us more control, plus the ability to delegate access across the entire district.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Shipley added the district is using a server for each facility, with each tied together giving them the ability to use failover capabilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-article-paragraph-image-block \" >\n\t<div class=\"content-container\">\n\t\t\n\t\t<div class=\"paragraph-image-block\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"image-cell image-size-small\">\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hanwhavision.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/laptop_wave-2-600x600.jpg\" alt=\"\"  \/>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"text-cell\">\t\t\t\t<p class=\"mb-0 \">The team praised the new system for improving the efficiency and effectiveness of campus monitoring for both administrators and resource officers.<br \/>\r\n<br \/>\r\n\u201cWAVE has been super helpful for me in my job of making sure the district&#8217;s safe,\u201d said Mark Wilhoite, Chief Operations Officer, and Director of People Personnel for Carroll County Schools. \u201cI use it at my desktop, but I also use it at home, on the mobile app or just whenever I&#8217;m out in the district doing whatever job needs to be done. I can pull up WAVE and see what&#8217;s going on in the district at any point in real time.\u201d<br \/>\r\n<br \/>\r\nHe added that the district\u2019s resource officers \u201clove the new system. We&#8217;ve gone from having the cameras on their laptops to now on mounted televisions with 20 to 30 camera views displayed at all times.
